Hand Sewing & Mending Workshop with Julia Passafiume Design

SIGN UP NOW!

Has your favorite blouse ever lost a button? You found the perfect trousers for work but they’re a bit too long? Or that super cozy t-shirt you’ve had for a few years is getting a few holes?

Fear not, with a few basic hand sewing techniques, all of the wear and tear your clothing goes through can be handled with ease. Also, by making our clothes last a few more months we divert thousands of pounds of perfectly good textiles from ending up in landfills as waste. Mend your clothes and save the world!

Join Julia Passafiume, sewist and designer, at Boho Salon in May to learn how to properly reattach buttons, invisibly hand stitch a hem, and a few simple ways to mend holes in your clothing. Enjoy snacks and light refreshments while you stitch samples that are provided to you or feel free to bring an article of clothing that needs a new button or some hemming, such as a pair of trousers or a dress.

Denim mending will not be covered during this class, please keep an eye out for another workshop soon!

Julia has been sewing most of her life and graduated from Parsons the New School for Design in New York City. She worked a few years as a clothing and surface pattern designer until the incredible waste of energy and resources in the fashion industry compelled her to quit New York City to pursue building her own organic and handmade brand as well as teach sewing locally to anyone who wants to learn. She’s always working towards having a completely handmade wardrobe, from dresses to jeans!

Keep an eye out for her beginner sewing workshops this summer!
